Rainwater Collection System Solutions

Typical rainwater collection filters require cleaning after virtually every rain event and may allow insect, leaf, and debris particles into your water supply.

The WISY system recommends inspection/cleaning twice per year. Insects are not an issue in a properly designed system because there is no point of entry. Bacteria and other pathogens are deprived of a food source and oxygen is provided access to stored water through the breathable filter system. Solid objects are filtered down to .011 of an inch. The filter is manufactured from stainless steel, so rust and decomposition are not a problem.

Application of the rain harvesting system necessitates the isolation of your storage and collection systems from outside pests such as rodents and mosquitoes. Rainwater quality depends upon the free circulation of air within the collection and storage system. Airflow along with pre-filtering and calming the inlet of the water into the tank allows for sedimentation without agitation from inflows. Drawing water from just below the surface of the tank and constructing an overflow which will allow the skimming of the surface when an overflow condition exists will contribute to a higher quality of water for domestic use. The low maintenance of this system is a very desirable characteristic.

System Controls

In order for the system to be simple and safe to use, it is recommended that an automatic control system be used. The controls should always operate to protect the pump from operating in a "run dry" situation and regulate the addition of potable water when the rainwater supply runs low. An optical gauge is also recommended.
